Discord bots
Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect only what our bots need to work: your Discord IDs, what you type into a bot’s commands and forms, and records of what you set up.
- Our bots don’t read your server’s regular chat messages.
- We don’t sell your information, use it for ads, or use your Discord data to train AI models.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or have it deleted, by emailing contact@arkship.gg.
01Who we are and what this covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Arkship (“Arkship,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use any Discord bot or Discord application that Arkship runs (each a “Bot”), including the Tinyhost bot. It works together with our Terms of Service.
02What we collect
- Discord identifiers. Your Discord user ID, username, and display name; the ID and name of the server you use a Bot in; and the IDs of the channels, roles, and messages a Bot needs in order to reply or post updates. Discord sends these to a bot automatically whenever you use it.
- What you give a Bot. The options you choose and the text you type into a Bot’s commands, buttons, and forms, such as a name or settings for a game world.
- Records of what you set up. Things you create or manage through a Bot, such as a game world, who has access to it, its status, and usage or billing records like a balance.
- Technical logs. When a command ran, whether it worked, and details about errors. We use these to keep the Bots running and to fix problems.
03What we don’t collect
- Our Bots don’t read the content of ordinary chat messages in your server. They respond to slash commands, buttons, and forms. If a future Bot needs to read messages to do its job, we’ll update this policy before it does.
- We don’t get your Discord password or email address from Discord, and we don’t collect your voice, your direct messages with other people, or your list of friends or servers.
- If a connected product takes payment, a payment processor handles your card details. We never receive your full card number.
04How we use it
- To run the Bots and the features you ask for, like starting a game world or posting a status update.
- To keep the Bots secure and prevent abuse, like limiting how often a command can run.
- To find and fix problems and improve the Bots.
- To tell you about the service when needed, for example a notice in Discord that something you set up has changed.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or use your Discord data to train artificial intelligence (AI) models.
05Who we share it with
We share information only in these cases:
- Companies that run our infrastructure, such as cloud hosting providers. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- Payment processors, if you buy something through a connected product.
- Discord, because the Bots run on Discord. Discord’s own Privacy Policy covers what Discord does with information.
- Other people in your server, who can see a Bot’s public replies and posts like any other message. Many of our replies are visible only to you.
- When the law requires it, or when we need to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Arkship.
- If Arkship changes hands. If Arkship is merged, sold, or reorganized, information may move to the new owner, who must keep honoring this policy.
06How long we keep it
- Records of things you set up are kept while they’re in use. When you delete them, or ask us to, we delete them within 30 days, except records we must keep longer by law, such as billing records needed for taxes.
- Technical logs are kept for up to 90 days.
- If you remove a Bot from your server, it stops receiving new information from that server. To have existing data deleted as well, email us.
07Your choices and rights
- See it. Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Fix it. Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong.
- Delete it. Ask us to delete your information. Some Bots also let you delete things directly with a command.
- Stop. Remove a Bot from your server or stop using it at any time.
To make a request, email contact@arkship.gg with your Discord username. We’ll ask you to confirm the request comes from your Discord account, and we’ll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the European Union, the United Kingdom, California, or Texas), local law may give you more rights, and we’ll honor them.
08Security
We protect information with reasonable safeguards: access is limited to the people who need it, connections are encrypted, and secrets like bot tokens are stored securely. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee that information will never be exposed. If a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
09Children
The Bots aren’t meant for anyone under Discord’s minimum age (13 in most countries). We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
10Where information is kept
Arkship is based in the United States, and the Bots run on servers in the United States. If you use a Bot from another country, your information is sent to and handled in the United States.
11Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we’ll make a reasonable effort to let you know before they take effect.
